Subject: Re: a trip to Japan
Hi Harold - well we are back from our wonderful trip and I wanted to write to
thank you for your help in making the trip such a success!!
All the hotels were great - the Shinagawa Prince and the Pacific Meredian are
both literally across the street from the Shinagawa Station which made using
the JR pass and getting around very easy. The Prince had a great morning breakfast
buffet with both western and japanese food choices. The Meredian was a little
more "fancy" than the Prince - with a few more western visitors. The staff
was a little more able to help with specific question in English about getting
around the city. The Shinagawa station also had a JR office to book all the
reservations for travelling outside the city - it was a really convenient location.
The Fujiya Hotel is a grand old hotel that was a real treat. It had hot spring-fed
swimming pools, and Japanese baths, and even the hot water in the rooms came
from hot springs! It was a good spot from which to do the Hakone day trip by
the cable car and tram and boat on Lake Ashi. (unfortunately Mt Fuji was under
a cloud!) We received connecting roms here (at the other 2 we had adjacent rooms)which
all was great.
You were a wonderful help and I thank you for making these great
reservations for us! We had just a great family trip!! Pat
