Day 1-2 Home City > Bangkok Depart your home city to Bangkok. Day 3 Arrive Bangkok Upon arrival, you are transferred to the Amari Watergate Hotel for 3 nights. Day 4 Bangkok [B/L] Start your day with a tour of Bangkok featuring Grand Palace, the ornate royal residence which is still used today by the Monarch for certain ceremonial occasions. Within its compound, you will view the Emerald Buddha, considered the most sacred Buddhist image in Thailand. Enjoy a relaxing cruise with cold drinks and tropical fruits on a long-tailed boat through the canals of Bangkok to see the scenery and the simple life of the friendly people living along the waterways. Day 5 Bangkok [B] Your morning is at leisure to explore the streets and markets of Bangkok or relax by the pool. This afternoon, drive to the Rose Garden to visit this picturesque country resort with over 50 acres of flower gardens, orchards and a typical Thai village. At the Thai village, you will enjoy a cultural show with Thai folk dance and demonstrations of handicraft skills, Thai boxing and sword fighting. Day 6 Bangkok > River Kwai [B/L/D] Early departure to Ratchaburi for a visit at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Enjoy an exhilarating ride by a narrow long-tailed boat through the marshes and stilt houses. Then continue to Kanchanaburi where you experience an exciting train ride on the original “Death Railway”. Also visit the new Thailand – Burma Railway Center and World War II Cemetery. Dinner and overnight at the Pung Waan Kwai Yai hotel. One hour Thai Massage at your hotel is included. Day 7 River Kwai > Phitsanuloke [B/L/D] Travel to Ayuthaya via Suphan Buri and visit the ruins of the Ancient Capital city Ayuthaya. It was founded by King U-Thong in 1350 AD and destroyed by the Burmese army in 1767 AD. At the peak of its glory it was home to more than one million people. Then continue to Lopburi with a stop at Phra Buddha Badh to see its shrine of the holy footprint of Buddha and very large number of temple bells surrounding the temple compound. View the magnificent stone carvings of Phra Prang Sam Yod, which is a 13th century block shrine with three spires. Drive through Thailand’s central plain to Phitsanuloke, which is spread along the bank of Nan River, a town strategically located on the cross-road between the northern and central regions of the country. Stay overnight at the Amarin Lagoon Hotel. Day 8 Sukhothai > Lampang [B/L/D] Start your day with a tour of Wat Mahadhat, locally known as the big temple. Next, visit Sukhothai Historical Park and Sukhothai’s twin city - Sri Satchanalai before travelling further north to Lampang. The stops will be made at Wat Phra Kaew Don Tao, a very interesting Myanmar Style Temple and the Lanna Museum. Overnight at the Wianglakorn Hotel. Day 9 Lampang > Chiang Rai [B/L] Depart Lampang for Chiang Rai with a stop at the small town of Phayao. In Chiang Saen, you will explore the old walled city that was once the capital of the Lanna Dynasty. After visiting the Wat Pa Sak or the Teak Forest Temple, you then take a boat trip along the Mekong River to the Golden Triangle, renowned for centuries as the centre of the opium trade. From a hilltop viewpoint, marvel at the splendor of the mighty Mekong and Ruak Rivers that meet at the boundary of three countries, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. A brief visit at the Opium Museum nearby followed by dinner and overnight at Wiang Inn Hotel. Day 10 Chiang Rai > Chiang Mai [B/L/D] This morning, drive along the narrow mountain road to the mount Doi Tung to visit Doi Tung Hilltribe Project and to observe the non-commercial Hilltribe Village under the King Mother’s project. Afterwards, you visit Doi Tung Royal Villa, the former mountain retreat of the late Princess Mother. The architecture is a combination of Swiss chalet and Lanna style. The villa was built in four sections : The private quarters of the Princess Mother, the audience hall, the private quarters of her grand daughter and finally those of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana. Drive to Chiang Mai and lunch at a local restaurant en-route. Arrive Chiang Mai, enjoy your dinner and accommodation at the Amari Rincome Hotel. Day 11 Chiang Mai [B/L/SD] Early departure from the hotel to visit one of the of Chiang Mai’s Elephant Camps where skill “Mahouts” demonstrate how elephants worked in the jungle for centuries as well as other skillful maneuvers. Watching the elephants relax as they bathe in the river makes for a great photo opportunity! This is followed by a ride on elephant or ox cart. A stop is also made at Orchid Farm nearby. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will drive up the mountain’s winding road and climb up 290 steps to visit the hilltop temple of Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. On a clear day there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai from the temple grounds. (The less energetic will be pleased to know that there is a cable car up to the hill!) Tonight, you will be treated to the ceremonial northern Thai Dinner, known as Kantoke. Traditional dishes will be served whilst watching elegant traditional dances. Day 12 Chiang Mai > Phuket [B] This morning, you will head to Sankampaeng District - the heart of the silk and cotton home industry. Here you can witness the fascinating process of making and weaving these popular fabrics. Continue to Bor Sang, the umbrella home industry where the delicate Thai paper umbrellas are produced and hand-painted. Then if time permits, stop at a lacqureware factory and a silver and bronze factory before transferring to Chiang Mai Airport for your flight to Phuket. Upon arrival in Phuket, transfer to the Amari Coral Beach Resort for 3 nights. Traveller on 12 days program will be transferred to the airport and take a morning flight home via Bangkok. Breakfast is included. Day 13-14 Phuket [B] Amari Coral Beach resort is set on a secluded headland at the southern corner of Patong, Phuket’s most popular beach, with spectacular views of the picturesque bay. Two full day are yours to discover this island, often called the “Pearl of the Andaman Sea”. You will also enjoy a sunset dinner cruise onboard “JUNE BAHTRA” through the enchanting Phang Nga Bay.
