Day 1-2 Home City > Hanoi Board flight from your departure city to Hanoi. Day 3 Arrive Hanoi Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to the Sofitel Plaza hotel or similar for 3 nights. Day 4 Hanoi [B] A morning sightseeing tour highlights the One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Opera House. This is followed by an excursion to the Thay Pagoda or Master's Pagoda. Enjoy a water puppet show performed on a small stage which is raised on stilts above a pond. In the afternoon, take an optional cycle tour or a walkin the busting old quarter on your own. Day 5 Hanoi > Halong Bay > Hanoi [B/L] Today you travel east along the new highway 5 to Halong Bay, one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations and an UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a 4 hour cruise on a traditional wooden boat among the emerald waters and craggy limestone cliffs, stopping at different islands to explore some of the many caves in this area. Sail past floating villages, watch fishermen casting their nets and observe the rhythms of daily life on Halong Bay. Enjoy a seafood lunch on board before returning to Hanoi. Day 6 Hanoi > Hue [B] Take a morning flight to Hue. Visit the Citadel, Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City built in the early 19th century and modeled after the Forbidden City of Beijing. Stop at the elaborate tomb of Emperor Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Overnight stay at Saigon Morin Hotel. Day 7 Danang > Hoi An [B] The day begins with a visit to the Thien Mu Pagoda on the bank of the Perfume River followed by Tomb of Emperor Minh Mang. This complex is perhaps the most beautiful of Hue's pagodas and tombs. Enjoy a scenic drive to Hoi An via the cloudy Han Van Pass. You will visit the Cham Museum which houses more than 300 artifacts that is probably the best collection of Cham art to be found anywhere in the world. Stay at the Hoi An Riverside Resort for 2 nights. Day 8 Hoi [B] An Start your day with a walking tour of this quaint town, visiting ancient merchants’ houses, Quan Cong temple and Ohuoc Kien Pagoda, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, a nearby local museum and the colorful riverside market. Enjoy a boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Kim Bong village on Cam Kim Island and visit workshops of woodworkers. Day 9 Ho Chi Minh City [B] Transfer to Danang airport and take an early morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival, drive to the extraordinary Cu Chi tunnels, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war for independence, “Viet Cong” guerillas built the labyrinth of narrow tunnels virtually underneath U.S. bases, using them to hide during bombing raids and to stage surprise attacks. Afternoon Ho Chi Minh City sightseeing includes visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, War Remnants Museum, Chinatown, Binh Tay market and Thien Hau Temple. Stay at the Omni Saigon Hotel or similar for 2 nights. Day 10 Ho Chi Minh City Depart Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic morning drive to Cai Be via My Tho, the capital of Tien Giang province. Take a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries to view the daily lives of people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in late afternoon and stop en route at the ornate Cao Dai Temple in Ben Luc Day 11 Ho Chi Minh City > Siem Reap [B] In the morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, transfer to Victoria Angkor Hotel for 3 nights. In the afternoon, explore Khmer temples from the early Angkor period. Visit the Roluos group of temples dating from the 9th and 10th century, including Preah Ko, Bakong, and Lolei temples. End the day with a spectacular sunset viewed from the mountain temple of Phnom Bakheng Traveller on 11 days program will be at leisure in the hotel until the time for your transfer to the airport and departure home. Breakfast is included Day 12 Siem Reap > Angkor Complex [B/L] Begin exploration of the ancient city of Angkor by entering Angkor Thom via the South Gate. Continue the journey by viewing the ruins at Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Royal Palace, the Elephant Terraces, and the Leper King Terrace. In the afternoon, visit the epic Angkor Wat, viewing its extraordinary architecture and bas-reliefs. Day 13 Siem Reap > Bantreay Srei [B/L] After breakfast, proceed to the graceful 11th century Temple of Shiva - Bantreay Srei � and the Banteay Samre temple. On the way back, stop at the three-tiered temple-hill of Pre Rup. There, you will view the Banteay Kdei with its rarely seen sculpted female deities, the Lake of Srah Srang, and the impressive Ta Prohm Temple, which is dramatically enveloped by jungle. Visit the Ta Keo, Chau Say Tevada, and Thommanon temples before returning to your hotel. Day 14 Siem Reap > Home City [B] Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. ********************************************** PRE-EXTENSION TO SAPA BY VICTORIA EXPRESS TRAIN ******************************************** Day 1 Hanoi > Victoria Express > Lao Cai Pickup from your hotel in Hanoi and transfer to the train station in time to board the Victoria Express Train for an overnight journey to Lao Cai. Day 2 Lao Cai > Sapa [L] Arrive at Lao Cai in the morning where you can gaze across the Red River at China on the opposite bank. Drive along the road that winds up the terraced hillsides to Sapa, a former French hill resort and home to some of Vietnam's most colorful ethnic groups. A walking tour of Sapa visits the busy market where Red Dao, Black H'mong and other ethnic minority people converge from the surrounding countryside to sell their embroidery, silverware and handicrafts or to buy provisions. This is followed by an enjoyable boat ride downstream on Chay River with a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, visit some of nearby hill tribes, such as H'Mong and Dzay villages. Stay at the Victoria Sapa Hotel for 2 nights. Day 3 Sapa [B] Light trekking or mountain bike (optional) riding to further explore the rustic villages scattered among the valleys and hillsides. Day 4 Sapa > Lao Cai > Victoria Express > Hanoi [B] Enjoy a day at leisure till the time for transfer to Lao Cai train station and travel overnight to Hanoi by Victoria Express Train. Day 5 Arrival in Hanoi On arrival in Hanoi, transfer to the airport or your hotel. Enjoy an orientation tour of Laos' capital which includes Pha That Luang, Wat Si Saket, Wat Si Muang, Patuxai and Ho Pha Keo, the former royal temple of the Lao monarchy and converted now into a museum that contains some of the best examples of Buddhist sculptures found in Laos. Overnight at the Lao Plaza Hotel or similar. Day 2 Vientiane > Luang Prabang [B] This morning, fly to Luang Prabang. Spend the day touring the former imperial capital. The Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Wisunalat (Vat Visoun), Wat Mai, Wat That Luang and Wat Saen are some of the amazing temples you will see. Stay 2 nights at the La Residence Phou Vao Hotel Day 3 Luang Prabang [B] Your day begins with an excursion by boat upstream along the Mekong River to visit the famous caves of Pak Ou housing thousands of statues representing Lord Buddha. Later, continue by car to visit Ban Xang Hai village, once a 鎽ar-Maker Village� and nowadays is known for making the local rice whisky. This afternoon, visit the National Museum and Phu Si Temples on the upper slopes of the 100 meters high Phu Si hill. From the top, you will enjoy a panoramic view of the town and watch the sunset.
