Day 1 Home City > Mumbai Depart from your home city for Mumbai (Bombay) via Europe. Day 2 Mumbai Upon arrival, transfer to the Taj President Hotel. Your room is available for immediate occupancy. Day 3 Mumbai [B] A tour of Mumbai includes a visit to the Prince of Wales Museum, followed by the Gateway of India and the Dhobi Ghat, a unique and colorful outdoor laundry. Then drive up Malabar Hill to visit the lovely Hanging Gardens and Kamla Nehru Park. Back in the city, visit Mani Bhawan, a small museum dedicated to the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi. Day 4 Mumbai > Chennai [B] Fly to Chennai, where your sightseeing include Fort St. George and St. Mary’s Church. Visit to Shiva Temple - Kapaleshwara, and drive by the Marina Beach, known to be the second longest beach in the world. Overnight at the Tulip Aruna Hotel. Day 5 Chennai > Mahabalipuram [B] Enjoy a full day excursion visiting Kanchipuram and Mamallapuram. Known as “golden town of temples”, Kanchipuram has shrines dating to 200 BC while the Mahabalipuram is a sculptors’ delight, where you will witness at the Arjuna’s Penance, Krishna Mandapam, Varaha Mandapam and Shore Temples. Day 6 Chennai > Madurai [B] Fly to Madurai. Embark on a tour and visit Meenakshi Temple, a baroque example of Dravidian architecture with towers covered from top to bottom with multi-colored images of gods, goddesses, animals and mythical figures. You will also see the Thousand Pillar Mandapam and Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal. Overnight at the Madurai Park Inn International Day 7 Madurai > Periyar [B] Drive to Periyar this morning, gliding slowly through an animal-rich jungle. Enjoy an afternoon cruise on Lake Periyar followed by a cooking lesson. Overnight at the Spice Village Hotel. Day 8 Periyar > Kumarakom [B] Travel by road through beautiful rubber and spice plantations to Kumarakom and stay at the Whispering Palms Lake Resort for 2 nights. Day 9 Kumarakom [B] Start your day with an early morning visit to the Bird Sanctuary, then the Spice Plantation and have lunch with a local family. Day 10 Kumarakom > Cochin [B] Transfer by boat to Alleppey for a glimpse of Kerala's village lifestyle. Then continue to Cochin, India's first European settlement and stay at the Trident Hilton Cochin for 2 nights. This evening, you will enjoy a performance of Kathakali dance. Day 11 Cochin [B] Tour Cochin's Jewish Synagogue, Fort Kochi, and St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. Day 12 Cochin > Delhi [B] Fly to Delhi and transfer to the Park New Delhi Hotel. Enjoy free time at leisure. Day 13 Delhi [B] This morning, tour the Raj Ghat, Delhi's monument to Mahatma Gandhi, the Red Fort citadel and the Jama Masjid Mosque. In the afternoon, you explore both Old and New Delhi with a drive along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, and stops at Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate and the Diplomatic Enclave. Day 14 Delhi > Agra [B] Travel by road this morning to Agra, where an afternoon city tour is followed by a visit to the Taj Mahal at sunset. Overnight at the Hotel Clarks Shiraz. Day 15 Agra > Jaipur [B] After a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, drive to Jaipur, stopping en route to visit Emperor Akbar's “ruined” city of Fatehpur Sikri. Stay at the Hotel Mansingh for 2 nights. Day 16 Jaipur [B] Your day begins with a visit to the Amber Fort, followed by a leisurely afternoon. Day 17 Jaipur > Delhi [B/D] After a morning city tour of Jaipur, “Pink City of Rajasthan”, return to Delhi by road. Enjoy a farewell dinner before transfering to the airport.
